14 August 2022 Toronto: An Ethiopian Restaurant All to Ourselves

Before we left Florida we were talking to Allan Barsky, at a Pride Center event, and mentioned going to Toronto.  He had Toronto plans as well and so we decided to meet.  Our lunch group was Allan and his husband Greg, their daughter, Adelle, plus her boyfriend Vinny.  Allan is a colleague from FAU and  Greg was on the Pride Center Board, but before Leslie's time.   In our attempt to get lunch at the King Solomon and Queen of Sheba restaurant we encountered some difficulties.  We have shown up early to many a restaurant, all over the world.  Various responses from the staff have included, taking turns peeking out the windows at us, coming out to ask us if we are lost, and inviting us in but making us sit through the managers meeting before getting seated. We have even been given a taste of chilly indifference once or twice.  Par for the course, we arrived early at the King Solomon and Queen of Sheba Ethiopian Restaurant. The owner came out and asked us why we were looking in the windows.  We said that we wanted to eat lunch and we had a table of six.  She let us in, but then locked the door right behind us.  Then we had to go through an additional cage type door to the patio.  We did not really feel trapped or anything like that but the front door stayed locked all through our lunch time.   This was a first for us, tasty lunch and a taste of imprisonment on the side.  So we were captives in the restaurant and captivated by the restaurant.  Not familiar with the choices, we pointed out a few things and let our server tell us what we wanted.  She decided well and we got two different platters.  A veggie platter and a meat platter was shared.  We talked about our travels and our internet presence, both the blog and the Instagram account.  That is how we got our 100th Instagram follower!  Sub-micro-influencers no more!  We are now true micro-influencers.
