One of my former students, Jordan, from my U-School days, is going to Magill University here in Montreal. He saw on the interweb that we were in Canada and so we coordinated our schedules and decided to meet for dinner. I had Jordon in my classroom in one form or another, for four years straight and it was always fun interacting with him. He brought his GF Cassia along with him so we could meet her. They are a sweet couple and they make a smart and sharp team. We left our place early so we could do a bit of exploring around Montreal. We drove up to the top of Park Royal, drove all around the Magill Campus, got trapped in a seemingly endless array of one way streets and closed streets before we arrived. We made it to the planned meeting place, Kazu, but they were closed on Mondays. The website said they were open but the door said no. However there was a Vietnamese Place right across the street. We had a very tasty dinner at "I Am Pho" on a balcony table. Dinner went so fast that we had to stop off at a macha themed dessert shop. Then we went the the Winston Churchill Pub for drinks and conversation. A great time was had by all! Capybaras came up randomly in our conversation and a passing waitress stopped and came over to tell us that she does Capybaras. We were trying to unpack this statement when I said, do you put little saddles on them and ride them? She said no and then found some illustrations that she had dome of the cute beasts. She was a storehouse of capybara information that we would never have know had she not stopped to tell us.
