13 July 2023 Sunderland: Adrian Clark is in the UK!

Leslie worked with Adrian way back in 1992 while she was working at James Madison University.  I met him while visiting Harrisonburg VA and liked him straight away.  He was ordering some calamari and was insistent that he did not want any "squigglys."  "No Squigglys", spoken with an English accent, became a mantra for us as the years passed.  We visited Adrian and Julie, his wife, back in 2001 in their London flat.  He was scheduled come to the UK a month or so ago while we were still in London but that fell through.  He finally made it here and we decided that we were willing to take a day out so we could train down to London and see him even if it was for a relatively short amount of time.  The train trip was 3.5 hours each way and we got started around 7:30 AM.  A taxi to the train station, the train to London, an Underground ride to the Black Dog pub.  We had lunch and talked about old times for three hours.  We then took another underground to see Callum where we dropped of some gifts we had purchased for him.  Then back on the underground to the train and home.  It was just after 11PM when we rolled back into Sunderland.
