7 January 2025 Fuji: A Flight From Brisbane to Fiji

We spent the last day or so cleaning up after ourselves and stashing the big bags in a Bounce Storage location.  We pre-ordered an Uber to pick us up and take us to the airport.  It all went pretty smooth and the flight was only 3.5 hours.  We had priority economy which left the seat between us open.  It was a bit odd for us to not be up front behind the curtain but the cost differential was so large that we decided that we could handle 3 hours of roughing it.  We landed and got our luggage and then our driver.  Api was a happy and talkative man.  We had 45 minutes to quiz him about all things Fiji.  The kids start school at 6, go from grade 1 to 8 and then they follow the British model of first form, second form and so on.    Rugby is the most popular sport.  The Universities are mostly just on one island and in the main city.  English is taught starting in grade school and so it is widely spoken.  Small villages with just a few hundred inhabitants still have hereditary chiefs.  We made it to the resort just as the sun was setting. There were too many clouds for a nice sunset so we headed to our room and got settled in.  We had dinner at the Fish House and headed back to the room.
