It was not easy fitting in this tiny helicopter. My glasses did not work with the headphones and they were knocked askew. But more adventures are awaiting. The bush plane was a bit bumpy but we were fine. Not so much for other passengers. Our guide, Isaac, met us at the airstrip and I noticed he had a little silver star hanging from his shirt. I made a joke about his being the sheriff, but in actuality the star was because he was the chief guide. We got tot he lodge and got settled in. A quick lunch and an orientation before we headed out for an afternoon game drive
A crested Barbet wished me a fine farewell from Khwai
Our shuttle to the airplane
Off we go
This flight took us over the river
We could see many more kinds of landscape
Old river beds and hippo trails
I could even see the road that was now underwater
Remains of a previous fire, the white portions were from burned iron wood branches
We circled the landing strip to make sure all was clear
We flew higher in the bush plane
But we were still able to see all the waterways connected
The dry spaces were all connected as well
Elephants using all the old trails
This was an island still dry
Some sections were clearly drying up
As we were landing I could see this group of giraffe
Off to the lodge we go with the giraffe in the distance
It was decorated very nicely
Palm trees everywhere
Tall tall ceilings and light fixtures that looked like weaver nests
and like gourds
They had a cool bar out by the waters edge
Our welcome! I used the same items to spell out thank you
The headboard of the bed has a cool pattern of holes that the light would shine through in the nioght time
We had a table!
This mini bar area was very swanky
Fully loaded
Our plunge pool was great to bring down the core temperature
A fun reed structure over pour deck
The bathroom had two sinks, a big tub, an indoor shower and an outdoor shower
You can see the tub and the cool design in metal headboard
A walk in closet with a dressing area
Tall tal cielings
A fun stone floor in the shower
The wildlife was everywhere, just across the river
The butter dished had different designs on the top
It has been 128 days since we began our Migration
