16 October 2022 Cape Town S.A. Mount Nelson Tea Time

This smile says it all.  We love to have teas at elegant places around the world and the Mount Nelson is certainly elegant.  We had met Daryl before when he was telling us about local honey.  Luckily he was the Tea Sommelier for our afternoon tea. When we got into our room a few days earlier the staff had given us a book "I had Tea at the Nellie" which Leslie studied so she would be prepared for our tea.  I was ready to order some of my favorite Gyokuro tea but Daryl suggested that we try teas that we had never had before.  That was a brilliant suggestion and so we each tried something new.  My selections were Sakura Tea from Japan and Honeybush tea from South Africa.    Leslie chose the Bi Luo Chun Tea from Taiwan and Jasmine Peach tea.  For the finale we shared a Bucko tea also from South Africa.  The last one was the most unique tea we had ever had.  It had a green color and a very earthy flavor.  We had struck up a conversation with the couple sitting next to us.  Donna and Tom were funny and we had very similar careers.  Tom worked with optics and satellite systems and Donna was an educator.  They had retired and drove an airstream all around the country.  We then went back to the room to pack up as we were leaving the next day.  After the packing was completed it was GnT time and then dinner.  We said our good byes to all the staff that made our stay so very special.  Thanks Mount Nelson, we will miss you all!
