16 January 2023 Wellington: Rolling into Wellington and Checking it Out

The last tunnel system we went through was 6 km long and when we emerged it was an entire different vibe.  We were in the capital city!  We saw baseball being played, marinas filled with boats, rowers, rugby and estuaries filled with birds.  We got off the train and jostled for our luggage.  Our  Uber pulled right up to the train and we were packed into the uber and on our way.  We were happy to be driving up Majoribanks Road because it has a 15% uphill grade.  Impossible for luggage maneuvering.  Wellington has a heavy San Francisco vibe, there is the bay, there are old time buildings with fancy architectural accents and there is the fog.  We dropped off all our stuff and grabbed the bags to go to the store.  It was almost 8PM and once we got the the bottom of the hill we decided that we should just get dinner instead of shopping.  If we ordered enough, we could have leftovers for breakfast.  When we looked in the windows of the Majestic Cuisine and saw the giant table of food for a table of 16 we decided on eat now, shop later.  We were not disappointed, the food was actually magnificent both for dinner and for breakfast.  Plus the people watching was top shelf!

Two pages of dumplings...NICE!

This chicken looks like a rubber chicken.  It would be funny to have a joke menu item and when anyone orders it a rubber chicken comes out!

Cashew Chicken!

We are glad that we did not order the extra large soup
