Our second Fringe show was the Best of Burlesque at "The Caves". We plotted the walk on Google Maps but it led us astray. We were almost at our destination but google led us up 68 stairs that we did not need to climb. Once Google told us we had arrived there was no venue in sight. We could see other small groups of people staring at their phones then looking up with a confused look. We actually asked a similarly confused couple if they were also looking for the Burlesque show and they said yes. Nick and Judy actually knew one of the performers. Nick told us, "Edinburgh is a three dimensional city and Google lives in a 2D world." The four of us, working together, were able to find our venue of the night "The Caves." The show was burlesque and it had a rotating set of performers. We suspected that most of the performers also had solo shows or other ensemble shows where they had to perform. That is why the show rotated the performers. Our group had the Italian friend of Nick and Judy as well as a Japanese man, a woman in drag, a one trick magician and an acrobatic woman, as well as a singing host who also played the saw. Nick got called up to volunteer for the magic trick and I also got called up on stage. I was part of an improv sketch of a dramatic actor giving birth. Spoiler alert, I was not playing the role of the dramatic actor. Instead I was the one being born. It was great fun and the crowd was laughing in delight.
