10 August 2023 Edinburgh: Walking Through Old Town

Mary Kings Close is the name of a part of the old city that was partially demolished and buried when the construction of the Royal Mile was completed in the 1700's.  There are tours of the underground area.  Rumors of hauntings and the connection with the plague are highlighted on the tour.  That is why they have the disgusting items featured above in the gift shop. We continued walking through the Royal Mile and then down by the train station finally stopping into a fine Chinese Restaurant.  We liked the fact that we were the only Caucasians in the restaurant.  It always indicates authentic cooking styles. I got a dish the was the spiciest dish on the menu, whooo doggie, it got me sweating.  After we ordered the server told us to move to a larger table because the dish for the spicy beef was so large!  This was good news for me.  Needless to say we had leftovers for our dinner.  We brought them back to the AirBnB but we had to climb up 200 steps to get up to the old town.  While we were getting ready for the next Fringe show, we could not miss the mass of Luzern Football fans who were playing the local Hibernians  in Edinburgh.  There must have been close to 100 of them and they filled an entire restaurant.  After their dinner then started chanting and beating a big drum as they set off to see the match.  We also got to watch the street show of the Basketball Man.  The view from our windows is unsurpassed!
