26 August 2023 Sunderland: Pre-Birthday Feast

Since we will have to be up early on the 28th to travel to York we did not want to go to dinner and such on the 27th.   So we celebrated my birthday a day early.  We did some final printing and washing before we headed over to the Miller and Carter for some steak.  There was a large selection of cuts to choose from and they even pair wines with the specific cuts of steak.  I was very pleased to find a Lodi "Old Vine" Zinfandel and bought the entire bottle.  Unable to choose just one steak, we picked the steak butcher board with four different steaks on it.  A ribeye, a filet, a sirloin and a rump steak.  Yummy!  As if that was no enough it came with a big brisket stuffed marrow bone, onion loaf, veggies, a wedge salad, new potatoes and two steak sauces!  Two great meals for one price.  I say two meals because the leftovers were generous and a half bottle of wine came home with us too.  We ordered a crème Brule to share and a birthday scoop of ice cream came out to keep it company.  It was a nice sunny day and although the clouds were building to the west, it never rained on the coast.  So many people were out walking and playing on the beach that it was a pleasure to watch.

They were just learning and it was rare that both sets of kites were in the air at the same time

What is in this martini that makes it a pornstar martini?  Maybe I don't want to know

The steak board was a fine spread for my Birthday dinner

The restaurant took the beef theme as far as possible

The M stands for meat!

A fine vanilla scoop

An even nicer crème Brule

Back at the house and digesting
