10 June 2024 Copenhagen: The Christiansborg Royal Palace

Since we are so close to the ferry/bus terminal, we are making it part of our commute when we can.  We headed north to the library stop and walked over to the palace complex.  The path was through the Garden of the Royal Library with a very large fountain and benches suitable for snacking on.  We strolled over to the palace via the parliament building.  The palace was filled with chandeliers, gigantic paintings and a large variety of tapestries.  One set of tapestries was donated to the Queen in 2000.  It is a series of tapestries that took 10 years to complete and were quite modern.   Scenes from the last 1000 years of Danish history were included

At the ferry stop we saw this large canoe

It was even bigger seen from this angle

Approaching our stop we saw water polo courts and kayaks

These are two Danish brothers.  One was the King of Greece and one the King of Denmark.  Each had been regent for 40 years

Reflection in the light fixture

The Danes have a ledged that the Danish national flag dropped from the sky turning defeat into victory.  It "happened" in Estonia in 1219.

The Throne

A fine floor in the throne room

There are lines in the floor that the minions could use to guide them while walking backward to leave the throne room
