Established in 2015, Curfew is a 1920's themed speakeasy. It is hidden behind doors labeled "Antiquarian Books" and a set of bookshelves stocked with books. It had a cool cat vibe with jazz playing in the background and a dimly lit interior. There were cabinets filled with glassware and old liquor bottles. Lots of book shelves on the walls maintaining the look from the front and an Al Capone figure complete with a tommy gun. All of the initial customers were spread out within the bar. We were placed in a plush side room with comfy sofas. We were given a drinks menu and selected our first two drinks. Reading the menu more closely we saw that another menu, the classic cocktails menu, was available on request. That is where we found the Cocktail of the month which was Leslie's second choice. I had sent pictures of the speakeasy to the "floaters" group on whatsapp and they asked about Absinthe. It was not on the menu but I was able to order a Absinthe from Humberto. They brought out a large container of water with a spout to drip out the water, a glass of absinthe, a sugar cube and a platter to suspend the sugar cube upon. Humberto then took out a spray bottle and sprayed Absinthe onto the sugar cube until it was soaked enough to light it on fire. Then as it burned the sugar melted and dripped down into the glass containing the absinthe. Humberto told us he has to be careful not to light the absinth in the glass or there would be a large flame up. This was entertaining in and of itself but it was also fun to think of the turn of the century in France . I can imagine Henri Toulouse-Lautrec drinking the "Green Fairy" in a similar setting.

Tony Birchler asked about Absinthe from across the pond. In my suggestive state I took this as a suggestion to try some. I inquired about absinthe and they indeed have it even it is not on the menu
Absinthe is in the spray bottle and it is applied to a sugar cube
The cube burns and melts into the absinthe in the glass giving it a sweet caramelized flavor
