26 June 2024 Copenhagen: On the Water with Captain Polly

We have seen three types of rental boats out on the water.  FriendShips, Go boats and MyCaptain boats are all different styles and speeds.  Go Boats were too small and looked to be uncomfortable.  My Captains were too large and may have included a Captain so that made the choice of FriendShips easy.  We arrived early so we were able to start early as well.  It was a warm day, bordering on hot.  It was hot enough for all the Danes to be laying about in the sun.  More than once we got the impression of seals or other sea mammals lined up on the beach sunning them selves.  The side canals that we boated along were small, especially so when the large tour boats decided it was time to pass.  We rented the boat for two hours and we managed to travel further than our original plan.  We got very close to where we are staying before we turned around and headed back.  Great fun on the water.

Getting close

This is the place

Lucky #8 for us

Our handy navigational chart

Our path in red, the tracker did not realize we were on the water and it's green path makes no sense

A pontoon bike

Dead end

Vera!

Our Captain

No room on either side

A bit of turf on the deck

Maybe the barge was already docked to photograph the restaurant

Maybe they were here to photograph the pontoon bike

Either way they had lots of cameras and people

Another photoshoot going on waterside

A very nice rowing boat

Swans in the shade

Hmmmm, which way to go?

Round bridges

The water opens up here

Every space is filled

In the water and on the docks

Putting along around the Palace Grounds

Great bridge

Lots of character

These bridges are small

But a big canal boat is possible to fit

Just barely at that

Ride the metro!

Another fine bridge

What time is it?

Back out on the big water

In process

Is there no propeller in the back?

A dandy look

Just when we thought that the sidewalk work was done, they brought in an entirely new load of pavers

Happy drink!
