25 June 2024 Copenhagen: Taking the M2 to Frederiks Kirke and Beyond

We were excited to use the metro for the first time and it shaved 20 minutes off of our ride.  We scooted up north and the M4 dropped us off right in front of the big dome of Frederiks Kirke.  We saw a sign that they were giving 1:00 PM tours in English and since it was 12:55 we popped in.  It was a massive 17th century Lutheran church, a strict policy of silence and we passed on the tour.  The day is too sunny and nice so we headed back out.  Our megandering took us generally towards the water and into a large open space.  This is Amalienborg a rococo 18th century palace complex.  There was a set of large buildings, guards with big fuzzy hats parading back and forth.  We even saw what appeared to be a senior officer in the military stride on past.  Continuing on we reached a huge fountain with attached gardens at Amalienhaven.  The walk way along the water was under construction so we had to work out way north among the buildings and construction fences.  We came out to see a "Statue of David" by DaVinchi at waters edge.  Passing by a ferry pier we finally came to the Kastllet fortress
