Christian IV build this star shaped fortress in 1624. It has very tall ramparts and bastions. There are cannon still in place along the earthworks. In the center are barracks that are still in use. No pictures of the active military base. We walked half way around and then came back via the water where we passed the little Mermaid. There was water from the moats of old and that means waterbirds. Coots with babies, swans, ducks and geese.
