6 November 2024 Dimakya Island: Eagle Point and Bats

I wanted to take the sunrise hike to the top of the island, Eagle's Point, so I met the guide at the front desk at 5:30.  I was able to dress and gather my things without waking Leslie up.  There were two more folks going on the hike but they had no flashlight, wore flimsy flip flops and were not in the best of shape.  As such we had to wait for them often on the up hill hike.  It was too dark to see any birds on the way up and I had hoped to see some on the way down.  But up on the platform the other couple got in a tiff.  As soon as we climbed down the woman was double timed her way downhill scaring off any bird we might have been able to see.  She did not even wait for the guide or her partner...so it goes.  The guide did see a Philippine Megapode but it was long gone before I could see it.  I may go back to that area on future morning without other folks.  I got back and we went to breakfast.  The it was pool time and lunch before Leslie went to get a facial and I took a quick nap.  We had lunch leftovers and as the election results came in, we had no desire to leave the room.  What a dispiriting outcome.

Construction workers barracks behind these tarps

I wonder why they let it get this messy

It wasn't so unsightly in the dark but on the way back it is a mess
