The Stromma Jazz Cruise looked like a great chance to sit in the sun and listen to some great music. But the sun was not shining today. Lucky for us the cruise company changed to a covered boat because our trip was partially in the rain. Doc Houlind's New Orleans Allstars kept us happy regardless of the local weather conditions. We had an extended cruise and made it to places we had not been to previously. The hour and a quarter flew by as we motored through the canals of Copenhagen. We saw cruise ships, sea planes, a submarine up on blocks, restricted military waters and lots of other watercraft. Doc's singing was reminiscent of Louis Armstrong, deep and gravely, while he played the drums. A banjo, a bass, a trumpet and a clarinet filled in as the All Stars. The rain was spiting a bit at the start of the cruise and then we pulled into the main canal. Soon enough, the sky opened up and all the patrons were scrambling to close the windows. Some windows were stuck and we had to work together to get them closed. It was the middle of the wide part of the canal and we had a wild ride on the waves that kicked up. We were rocking on the waves as the windows fogged over and it got hot inside the boat. But the banjo kept strumming the trumpet wailing and the clarinet trilled away. After some more singing and clapping we pulled into a side canal and the waves mellowed out, the rain dropped off and some windows were opening up. Everyone we passed turned their heads and pointed at the boat as the music was loud.
