31 August 2025 Perth: Sir James Mitchell Park

Sir James Mitchell Park is West of our house and the visit was not supposed to be a birding excursion but I found two new birds anyway.  There had been lots of rain in the two weeks before we arrived in Perth, so some of the paths were underwater.  We detoured around the flooded parts but one of the runners just walked right through the mud and the water.  I guess that in Australia, wet feet are less of an problem than a 2 minute detour.  We saw lots of folks having picnics and walking their dogs.  We sat at the waters edge and rolled our eyes at the stupidity of the jet skiing fools.  We have been very lucky with the nice weather here.

It was Sunday soccer in the park
