30 August 2025 Perth: Off to the Kangaroo Island Preserve

In the middle of the Swan River is Heirisson Kangaroo Island Sanctuary.  It was only a short walk to get there and we crossed a brand new pedestrian bridge on the way.  The bridge is a suspension bridge and is quite stylish especially at night when it is illuminated.  There is a fence keeping the kangaroos isolated on only one side of the island.  We walked over, entered the preserve and walked the trails.  We loved the sunny day and the easy walk.  Lots of folks were out too including a family of Australian Shelducks with their babies. We sat in the sun and enjoyed our picnic lunch, a great day in Perth.

In the park across the street from us there were joggers and dog walkers
