10 September 2025 Paris: A National Strike Day!

We walked a half hour to get to the Picasso Museum.  On our walk we saw one broken window and a huge police presence.  On one section of the road we saw 20 large police vans and inside we saw the officers eating their lunch.  Locked roller carts had the lunches and they were being served to each van in turn.  It was to be a national strike day to protest the selection of a new Prime Minister.  The new PM was a former secretary of defense and there has been displeasure over a deficit reducing budget. We had some minor disruptions: limited floors open in the Picasso Museum, a confusing attempt to ride the bus and a very slow Uber ride back home.  The interior courtyard of our stay was cordoned off by the police.  We were back home before dark and a hard rain in the evening may have kept some of the unrest at bay. Perhaps it was that we are in a posh area so there was less tension.

A broken window right  outside our place

Groups were roaming together

A major intersection was blocked

this was one of the reasons our Uber ride took 30 minutes to drive 2 km

Protesters were streaming down this street

Some shops were boarded up and we had to stop multiple times to let cruisers by ans an entire motorcade as well

Multiple vans next to our stay
