Housed in a former train station built in 1900, the Musee D'Orsay was been switched over to a museum in 1986. It now is one of the largest art museums in Europe and the second largest in France. Unfortunately, this day was a strike day and only the first floor was open to the public. We still had plenty of fine art to look at and enjoy. In addition to the impact on the museum we were concerned about the pick up of our big bags. We were shipping them to Spain instead of trying to lug then onto the trains. The pick up time was between 1 and 6 PM but we had things planned and were concerned about a late pickup. Dave Kristine and Leslie left at 2:15 and I stayed behind to wait for the pick up. I poked my head out of the window to say goodbye and the DHL truck was there! So I took thew bags down and joined them for our trip to d"Orsayy We loved the museum and afterwards we headed over to where the Jazz concert was being held. The strike was again interfering with us as we tried to get to the metro and there was a gate across the entire entryway.
I stopped off at the DHL office to see if we could drop off the bags but they were too large for that office

This is the painting by Manet that caused an uproar, not because of the nudity, but because it was an actual portrait of a woman and not of an idealized woman
