Our ferry departure time was 10:40 so we drove over to the
terminal about an hour early. There was
already a lot of folks there, for our ferry and for another one leaving before
ours. There was a cool salt marsh and four herons feeding along the shoreline. We
saw a bride and her entourage, of course.
We filed in to the ferry and then watched the beautiful scenery float
by. It was an hour ride with one quick
stop. A few cars got off along with some
bicyclists and one car got on. We saw other ferries, as this
is a well-traveled route. Once we landed
we had a few hours before we could get into the AirBnB so we wandered
about. We drove to Deer Harbor and stopped for a picnic
lunch. This is where we saw a huge bald
eagle eating on a carcass. There were another
two baldies in the trees and a few buzzards on the ground. Every other bird was waiting for the big
eagle to finish. We drove roads till they ended and then we turned around. There were lots of farm
stands, little churches and quaint cottages all along the drive. We drove out to
the AirBnB but it was still too early to get in so we did some shopping in
town.
