Goncalo had a friend Lorenzo who had a friend with a red jeep that could go everywhere. At least it could go everywhere Goncalo wanted to take us. Leslie sat up front than the five of us poured into the back. It was close quarters which was fine while we were tooling along in town but when we were off road it was another story indeed. We were all air born at one or more points in the jeep trip and at one point Omar stood up and was ready to get out. We were certainly in the correct mood for such shenanigans, a little wine and some fun time and we were having a blast. Leonardo drove us to a winery, two different beach towns and then the rugged cliffs of Portugal. The cliffs were steep and the coastline was as rugged as could be. We stayed there for a while and watched the cliffs, the waves and the lighthouse off in the distance. Goncalo then said he had one more trick up his sleeve and we drove over the the lighthouse.
The lack of space held us together in the bed of the jeep
The castle walls
Magnificent trees
Grand houses
Sprawling down the hillside
Our Host, Goncalo Diniz
Tiny roads
Stone bridges
Few people on the roads
It is just as well since the roads were tiny
Grand houses with impressive gates
The fancy does not end
Moorish for sure-ish
Vain vane
Fancy like we like it
No entry for drunkards
Zipping through town
Till we hot the traffic!
Horse trough?
Open road!
Tall walls
Terraced tops
Fun times
Oh, lets stop at a winery for some wine
Barrels on barrels
Lighting to spare
Candles if the power is out
Webs

Beach Town #1
Nice waves the surfers were out
Beach Town #2
Perched on the cliffs
A little park along the creek
We drop down into a fine beach
Blue and white, are we in Greece?
A saltwater pool
The beach was just a sliver
Schooling
Just delightful
Sardines for all
We could dig this place
The waves were making it into the pool
A palace
We are off road Goncalo looks concerned
Ooof!
Beach Town #3 Time for Beer
Getting misty
We are in t he park!
Wild ride
All scrub on the hillsides
Wilder Ride
So gorgeous
The lighthouse at Cabo de Roca
Glorious
The rock spire looks like a light house
Good surf
Terrier walks by
A red wagon of a different kind
Seriously weathered rocks
A tiny beach below
The time of long shadows
One huge hole
Way off in the distance we see the Pena Palace
Laying down on this rock
Gives you this view
Behold!
Looking the other way, it is still beautiful
We are still standing, red jeep be damned!
