The Red Frog speakeasy is rated #40 in the world. It is only 50 meters from our place and we took an excursion to nail down the location. It is a good thing that we did because there is no sign or any other indication that it exists at this location. While on that excursion we saw some more art on the Avenue de Liberdade. We also saw an Aldi's and had to go inside and pick up some things as well as marvel at some things we would never purchase (huge hot dogs in a jar). Then back to the house and some light dinner before heading over to the Red Frog. Our reservation allowed us to visit for two hours and we were at the door when it opened. Another couple, Kelly and Craig, were standing out with us but they did not have reservations. The greeter told them that they could stay but for only one hour. We got to talking to them and that hour zipped by in a blink of an eye. A quick data dump: they were from Seattle, they have two daughters in NYC, they are both retired. We had great fun talking with them about their travels and upcoming trips. After they left, Amy and Stephanie sat down and we started talking with them right off the bat. They were in Lisbon via the Azores and were here celebrating Amy's 50th birthday. Happy birthday to you! They both hail from Oklahoma City, Amy went to college with Kristin Chenowith and has four kids, Stephanie has no kids but enjoys Amy's kids vicariously. They have also come to the conclusion that travel is something that they have no interest in delaying for the future. We sat there talking and finding new drinks when the bartender came over and told me that she had arranged for us to have another hour beyond the original 2 hours. Maybe that was too much of a good thing as we each had one more drink. Those drinks were the tastiest of them all. We headed out and sat in the square by the fountain where we saw the cutest dog ever!
