5 September 2023 Lisbon: Walking down Along the Waterfront

We walked down the length of the Avenue de Liberdade came upon a large square at the end.  The amount of tourists really picked up at this point.  We saw tour busses loading and unloading and folks with name tags streaming by.  We stopped in at H&M and took the escalator, not to avoid the line at the elevator but, to look for some clothes for Leslie.  Riding the escalator back down to street level. we continued on to the waters edge. This took us to the Praca do Comercio, a large square with folks snapping selfies right and left.  It was used for parking back in the 60's but it is now a large open space with  center statue.  It was across the street from the Arco da Rua Augusta, a very large and impressive triumphal arch.  We sat on the wall and ate some lunch watching the people and the gulls.  Then we walked along the water seeing the rock stacking guy and various cafes.  We ended up at the Time Out Market but the veggie stalls had all closed.  There were many food stalls all along the perimeter and tables to eat at in the center.  It was quite busy but we were not hungry.  We wandered back in the direction that we had come taking a few detours to see new areas.  We were unsuccessful in finding the items we needed so we headed back to El Corte Ingles.  There we were able to find laundry detergent, breath mints and some air fresheners.  The shrimps looked good so we got some for happy hour and the rosemary was also obtained and used to roast our chicken dinner.
