We had a 45 minute drive back from the Valley of the Kings. It was a chance to sit down, cool off and recharge. Back on the ship we sat in the bow of the Aton and watched the Nile flow on by. Fishing boats, tourist boats and buoys were sharing the river with us. The Captain would blow the horn at each oncoming ship and they would respond. There were many types of horns, from the big booming blast of our boat to the playful horn like trills of the other boats. During dinner we went through some locks at a dam. Once we docked a Whirling Dervish dancer joined the boat for a show.
Only one sugar cane stalk left to deliver
Saw this boat from the bridge
Not many seen so far
These tourist boats are mothballed for now
We saw many more while we were sailing
The same bridge we passed under earlier
Farmland everywhere
These sailing ships had a tow boat with them for when the wind was not blowing
Never what you want to see while on a boat
Salvage operations continue
We are finally outside the city
141 km?
Palms
Wide open water
Dry desert not far away
Thick green reed banks
Banana plantations
Green and not green
