16 January 2024 Edfu: To the Temple of Horus Via Horse and Carriage

Edfu is our last and final temple of our Viking Cruise.  The temple here was buried in sand for 2000 years and is very well preserves as a result.  The pylons are complete and the carvings still very distinct and beautiful.  We were getting as bit weary and suffering from a touch of temple fatigue.  So very few pictures survived the tour.

They had 25 or more horses with carriages lined up for all the passengers

The Temple of Horus is 105 feet tall and it has the largest complete set of decorated Pylons

This complex took 180 years to complete

The ceremonial boat that all the cool gods ride in

This one has a sail

Horus is the one with the falcon head We visited a side chamber that was dedicated to the god of fertility

We have pushed off and are cruising

Love the candy stripe sails

Going through the locks, our path is blocked by floating vendors

It has been 1 year and 225 days since we began out Migration
