7 January 2024 Cairo: Let the Cruise Begin, Sort Of That Is

We took the 3 hour ride back to Cairo from Alexandria.  It was foggy in the coast but more dusty further inland.  We did the ride without the need for a break at the WC.  But thank god that there was one at the Fairmont!  We checked in with Viking Cruises as today is officially the start of our cruise.  Except that there was no boat to board.  We don't get on a boat for another three days, but we do get to explore more of Cairo.  We took a three mile walk along the Nile River and saw some birds, families, 1000's of selfie takers and lots of Christmas decorations.  I was wondering how long the Christmas carols and decorations were going to hang around but then found out that the Orthodox Christmas was today!
