We have made it back to the Giza Plateau after a14 year hiatus. To think that we were motivated to start our international travel at this location in 2010. We saw a man trip and hit his head in a fall. We knew it was probably the end of his trip and maybe worse. We understood at that moment that we needed to be physically able to travel first and foremost. If we were to wait too long before trying to visit all the places we wanted to see, we would not be able to do it. There would be a bad knee or a bad back that would hold us back. That is when we started all our adventure travels. Now we have 79 countries under our belts and the upcoming year already booked!
The giant new museum is not yet open
A quick picture and then we rode the camels
Pick one, any one
This one will do
We are up
Easier said then done
Kissing camels
Raise your right hand
Now hold hands
It is like calisthenics
Cute!
Hairy beasts
Holding on tight
A wild ride!
Just after the camel was munching on Leslie's hair
A random camel driver!
A fine view from on top of a camel
The Great Pyramid in the back and the second one in the front
The valley of the camels
Dinner time for the dogs
Smaller pyramids
Security was ever present
Mastaba for the priests
Great Pyramid and Queens pyramids
The buff yellow color is ubiquitous
On the top of the plateau
Lots of camels
Horses too
The limestone cladding still attached
In the shadow of the pyramid
The great pyramid is tall
and it is wide
Each block weigh a couple of tons
The Queen's Pyramids off in the distance
Up up up
Looking for an opening
Time for the Sphinx
Even the cars on the road look tiny!
We have not dressed up enough
In we go
All the monumental structures together
Magic hour light
Off ion the distance!
The entrance to the temple of the Sphinx
The movie star light
The sphinx was covered in sand until the 1800's. Above the dark line on the neck was the the only part sticking up.
A path up to the Pyramid
The light is fading
No one knows about the nose
Attempted nose replacement surgery
Mysterious as ever
