Almost an hour outside of Cairo, to the south, is Saqqara the largest necropolis in Egypt. It is also the birthplace of the pyramid. The Pharoah Dozer had the first pyramid but it was a stepped pyramid bit an actual pyramid. They had to make 9 pyramids until they settled on the correct angle and square base.
