29 December 2023 Petra to Amman: A Four Hour Drive to the Intercontinential

We are always happy to see wedding parties at the hotels we stay at.  This is always a sign of a good hotel and since we were in Amman it had to be capital city quality.  In the morning, in Petra, we got downstairs 15 minutes early for our ride.  There was the usual miscommunication  where they said our driver has already there and then pointed to a 4x4 which was clearly not ours.  Then a convoy of four big black suburban's drove up with some VIP's.  We wandered about taking pictures and wasting time before they finally said again that the driver had already arrived.   Oh well.  We got into the van which was very nice and immediately starting driving south.  I asked the driver, to make sure, that we were headed to Amman which is to the north.  He assured me that we were going to Amman, however we drove a half hour out of our way so the drive took an hour longer than it should have.  The second time driving along this highway made some of the imperfections more noticeable.  Regardless as we got the the obligatory pit stop I showed the driver where I wanted to stop off to get the big bags out of the luggage storage.  He took us right there and then onto the Intercontinental.  A very busy and very nice hotel, the decor was super.  We had sushi and loved every bite!

Fresh made coffee available to really wind us up for the ride

The table has camels for legs

A fine coffee pot in an even finer cabinet

The elephants we saw on the top of the columns

Leading down to the banquet floor

Crystal overload in the wedding area

A fine selection of ceramic pieces.

Colorful and creative

At the check in we were given a coupon for two soft drinks.  Since we have brought some jug gin we sat down with our free tonics and mixed up a few GnT's before dinner

Billed as an Udon noodle appetizer, it was good but we don't think the noodles were Udon

Salmon overload

Across the bridge was our chef

The gal was local but was training in Switzerland and had returned for her internship

Gingerbread house decorations.  For a Muslim country they really got into the Christmas spirit whole hog

It has been 1 year and 207 days since we began our Migration
