Boating, birding and Bar-B-Q-ing 12 July 2021 Jimmerson Lake IN
Contrary to the forecast the morning was clear and warm. We took the cover off of the boat and off we went to Dan's Doughnuts. There were lots of birds to see along the way but the wind was a bit chilly. We docked at Dan's Doughnuts and each got one. It was $5 and change for four doughnuts. As we ate them I noticed the Coney Dog stand and went to buy a bowl of chili for our own hot dogs that were on the menu for dinner. I ordered and after 4 or 5 minutes I had to wonder what could be the hold up. When the kid finally arrived back at the ordering widow, he had a Styrofoam cup with the chili in it. He explained to me that they were out of bowls so he had to put the chili in a cup. I said that was OK with me and how much did I owe him. He said that he would not even know how much to charge me so it was free. What a deal! The chili did make the evening's hot dog extra special. We then cruised James Lake where we saw goat island and Clark Gables Island. It was time for a pit stop back and lunch at the house and them back out to the river section of the lake. Here we saw more swans but this time with cygnets. A few Canada geese got too close to the pappa swan and this bird went after the geese. The bird put up a wake while flapping its wings and squawking loudly. We inspected the dam at the end of the lake and it passed with flying colors. Then it was back to the house for BBQ, wine and games.
