A well exploited microclimate. 9 July 2021 Lodi NY
What a Whirlwind! No really, we had to move to the inside of the restaurant for a squall. Apparently squalls have preferential seating on the outside. Lets back up and start with our visit to Boundary Breaks Winery. No need for a tasting, no thanks its too early, really. We just popped in to buy a few bottles on Kim's recommendation. However we are prone to fits of logic and we were soon convinced that we should absolutely be tasting the wine before we bought it. Before you know it we had two or three sips of wine. Its not even noon yet! But as soon as it was, the crowds started arriving. People picked picnic tables, staking out the best view. We took a drive past 15 or 20 wineries. The Lake was off to our right and beautiful vista after another opened up on our drive. There were two few produce stands that we frequented. Now we have peach jam and hand pressed cards. We had 1PM reservations for Dano's and sat outside in the sun with a fragrant breeze. We were surrounded by blooming plants and flowering trees. Leslie's sharp instincts spotted the aforementioned squall before it was a disaster. We swept up our plates and things and were inside the restaurant before the rain let loose. One family lasted a few more minutes but soon it was obvious and they dripped on inside. We decided to order dinner and take it to go. As we waited for that we met Judy and Larry from Rochester. We had a great wide ranging chat. Viva Italy!
