Icy Point has seen a very recent upgrade in facilities. Two new gondolas grace this tiny port. The first one is low to the ground and lulls the traveler into thinking this will be a leisurely day in the sky. The second gondola is very steep and the top tower is shrouded in clouds. The cars just disappear into the mist. Since they have just been built there are signs of the construction still visible. We saw trees that had been cleared, lines the workers would use to lower themselves down to the base of one of the towers. On top there were trails and a world class zip line. The signs warning of bear encounters were everywhere. We were talking to one of the armed bear guards and he showed us a video he took yesterday of bears on the trail. His name was Big Baby and he admitted to shaky hands and racing pulse at the bear sighting. He obliged us with a fully armed pose. We strolled around the old buildings and took some pictures. I found a cool new hat. We then headed back for lunch and our spa time.
