We had a nice halo around the sun today on our venture into Anchorage. The scattering of light off ice crystals in the clouds creates this spectacle. The center circle was quite dark, A fine summer day in Alaska and a big lawn with flowers all around to wander through. The Anchorage Museum Floors 3 and 4 were rather small spaces and they left us hungry for more. The best was a series of glowing globes suspended in a dark room, Each globe was presenting data about the world. Some of the data was socio economic, some environmental and others were whimsical. We were so hungry for more that we left and got lunch. The lunch spot was the Midnight Sun Cafe down in the Mushing district. A bit more walking and then back in to the museum we go. Time to tackle floor 2. This was the best of the best. The curators used maps and grouped the artifacts in a way to illustrate the different groups who always populated the area. The works of art and the skill of their tools was astounding. The similarities were also evident among all the Artic Peoples. Then we walked to a few markets and scooped up salmon for dinner. Lyft brought us back to the cabin where we cooked up a storm.
