6 June 2022 Ft Lauderdale Beach Florida: Free Night at the Westin

We had built up enough points that we were able to stay at the Westin on Fort Lauderdale Beach for the price of the resort fee.  We spent the day fine tuning our luggage as well as getting in some pool time. Of course we were in the pool for only a short time before it started to rain. Not a downpour but enough to make it chilly after we got out of the water.  We got back to the room and worked up an appetite.  A quick search found Takato just a quick stroll to the north.  The night was so lovely that we did not even break a sweat on our walk.  As you can see from the above picture, we had sushi!  The pieces were thick and tasty and the presentation was very nice.  The octopus was raw and a bit of a workout texture wise.  One of the other slices of fish had the skin still attached and I had trouble with some extra calcium.  We got to talk to the manager and he was very interested in our story. He gave us his card and a glass of the wine from his Uncle's winery from an area north of Barcelona.  Perhaps we will visit some afternoon next April.  The couple at the table next to us seemed very sweet and we watched as they ordered a fried rice dish and got hot tea.  Of course we had to invent imaginary lives for this couple. We finished up and walked back to the Westin and into the Mexican themed restaurant for our complementary drinks and dessert.  An order of Guacamole seemed right so we ordered up the traditional.  It was quite good and a generous portion was more than we could finish.  As we were people watching, we saw the couple from Takato walking along the sidewalk.  They were coming our way and Leslie got to laughing.  She was thinking that they would wonder why we were at another restaurant so soon. Sure enough the man sees me and recognizes me.  I tell Leslie about it at around the same time that he tells his wife who stops and looks back at us.  I give her a wave, she tentatively returns that wave which prompts Leslie to wave and then the husband finishes it all up with his own wave.  A very civilized social interactions all around.  We laughed some more and Leslie said she wished they would come back by so I could get a picture.  Of course the universe does us one better by not only bringing them back but also having them come to the same restaurant that we were at!

The textured menu

I spilled all over this shirt, but not to worry it was not going to make the cut anyway

Lots 'o guac-o

Here they are after turning around.  Are they coming to join us?
