After our late lunch we took off for a hike out into the
desert. We walked about 2 miles over the
red sands. We were shocked by the amount
of trash, water bottles, aluminum cans and plastic bags. As we were lamenting this, a bag started rolling along the sand towards
us. I grabbed it and just like that the universe stopped our complaining and started our trash collection. Since we were given
a bag, we started to put the trash into. The first bag
was small it filled up quickly. Soon we saw a larger green bag that was snagged on a branch. We were able to get much more trash into that bag. It was warm and the wind was breezy but not a gale. We had hiked a mile and it seemed like we had not gotten any closer to the big rock monoliths. When the sun started going down we headed back because the desert does not retain it's heat. A large camel train was making it's way towards us so we lingered to get some pictures. The we headed back and by the time we got back the camels were returning as well.
Out the camp we go!
The shadows are already long
Big rock monolith
A Hooded Wheatear lifebird #3
It was sitting on this sign
Our camp way back behind us
A big almost full moon
Rising up slowly
Camel tracks
Some shadows creeping in
The pigeons like this spot
They like it, they really like it!
We like it too
Leslie found desert treasure!
What are these tracks?
The sun is hiding behind some clouds, it might be time to head back
Here come the sunset camels
It was a large group
There was a big sand dune in the distance
Folks in the distance sliding down the sand dune
They made it down
Love this place
Moon is up and the sun is down
The colors are popping out
Here come the camels
We better get out of thier way
Off they go to get to the special sunset spot!
No more sun so we turn around
Back at camp
The camels are heading back as well
The people are dwarfed by the rock
They are tiny specks in a dessert universe
Twilight light
The orange landscape of Mars
Back at the cabin
Laurence of Arabia
Our trash collection
Mysterious lights in the distance
The moon!
It lights up a fox in the clouds to the right
Gotta get that shot
Behold the magnificence
The details of the moon
Holding the light
It is dark so it is time to get dinner
What are these lights, is there treasure?
It has been 1 year and 202 days since we began our Migration
