8 December 2023 Paphos: A Drive in the Rain

The hotel called a taxi for us.  He got all the bags into the taxi with no problem but it got a bit confusing at the airport. The rental car office was located at the airport so that is where we had to go.  He drove up to where the cars get picked up but we needed to fill out the paperwork inside the terminal.  We told him to drop us off at the terminal but he pulled into the arrivals area and they would not allow him to drop us off.  Perhaps he was a wildcat taxi or he did not have the correct permissions to operate in the airport.   We should have known something was up when he said that we should tell anyone that asked that he is our relative dropping us off.  After a brief stop at a gas station we convinced him to take us back to where the outside rental car office was. Regardless, he was a delightful gentleman and the cost was reasonable.  We still had to go back and forth a bit because I had Leslie's driver's license and credit card but I was not Leslie.  The drive was only 1.5 hours but we had to drive on the "other" side of the road and the rain was intense at times.  The AirBnB was on the third floor with outside stairs and there was still a smattering of rain falling.  We took a few bags at a time up the stairs to the very nice place.  We are overlooking the water and the waterside walkway is right below our balcony.  It was early enough that we got some pizza for lunch and got to the store.  Of course when we were done shopping the skies opened up and the rain was the hardest we had seen all day.  It was splish splash all the way back.
