We contacted the car service and asked for a one hour tour. They sent a 28 year old man with his 4x4 . He was a native so he took us places we would never get to see otherwise. It was a great ride and we got to se so much in just one hour.
An extreme gate, did they really need an Effel Tower on top?
This is a wadi, a valley caused by the water runoff
Very rugged
Rounded stones everywhere
An entire herd of sheep
The road is either going up and down or right and left and up and down
Light stone and red stone
The landscape is so rugged that mules and donkeys are still in great demand
The Elephant rock is a local landscape
Donkey
Like another planet
This could be the site of the next housing development
That is if the houses look like this
Not a bad first time home
Puppy or polar bear cub?
Squinty Joe is looking at you
These are 200 feet tall
A goat herder and his goats
A multifamily flat
In the side of this slab of rock is a door to the cistern
Here is the door
Inside are large areas to store the water
A ceremonial bath for a soon to be bride
So many eyes looking at us!
The tree to the right shows how big these rocks are
The elephant rock in the setting sun
Living up on top of it all
Camel jam
Ride that mule!
Fancy gate in the Bedouin town
The jumble of rocks
This balloon goes straight up and then straight down
This is Mussa Spring
Everybody drinks it
The rock that Moses supposedly struck with his staff and water poured out
One of the three domes on the building
Outside the spring water flows out into town
Nice grapes
The three domes of Mussa Spring
A fancy wall across the street
The town from up on high
And the balloon
Down goes the sun
Beautiful
Horse on the edge
So nice
The great glow
Time to call it a night
Just a sliver of the sun left
Going, going
gone
It is done!
