3 December 2023 Istanbul: The Ethnographic Museum of Istanbul

 


The Ethnography Museum was a very worthy visit.  To be able to see how the folks lived and interacted with each other is our kind of thing.  Add to that outfits and tools and we are in Hog Heaven



he looks a bit haunted, maybe because he had to give up the absolute power and settle for a constitutional monarchy


We see why all there were so many fancy medals in the other museum


The Hungarian Royals needed to have food and drink while out hunting

Coffee houses became intensely popular in Istanbul after the introduction of coffee from Yemen in 1517, so much so that there was a Fatwah against coffee drinking.  The Sultan put the squash on that, too much money generated by the coffee and productivity was a a all time high 


Turkish coffee is so strong, this is a full sized cup


So very fancy!


The job of calligrapher was steady business and well regarded
