It was a packed house at the Yokohama Stadium the see the hometown Baystars play the Tigers. Friday night baseball was a big draw and we saw all types of folks. Everything from a man in a suit carrying a briefcase, to goofy team themed bucket hats to babies strapped into slings. Of course we got there early and we were able to see folk's pre-game rituals. We saw that it is customary to bring plastic to lay down on the ground before placing your bags down. We saw a woman wipe down her seat arm rests and cup holder. The visiting Tigers got an early home run but the Baystars battled back to tie it in the all in the first inning. In the 6th the Tigers managed to get two runs but the Baystars tied it up again. Finally in the 9th inning the Tigers prevailed. The stadium seemed evenly split with Tigers fans on the third base side and Baystars on the first base side. The cheering squads were all out in the outfield seats the better to blast the cheers to the rest of the stadium.
Big and fuzzy
More mascots!
About a half dozen kids were able to throw the "first" pitch before the National Anthem
The best mascot of them all had mobility issues
These cheerleaders ran on and off the field at full speed
Dino never moved far from this spot
Roll out the pre-game pyrotechnics
Waving the flags
Baystars!
Keeping these ferocious mascots behind a net
Home run!
Time for a Highball
Batter Up!
The Sun is setting
But some folks ar still getting to the park
Either Wayne Newton or the Baystars owner. Here he is motivating his workers to run very fast!
At least one third of the fans has this players Jersey
The stadium is full, this is the Baystars side
Here is the Tigers side
A sliver of the moon
Time to don a jacket to ward off the cold
A tiger on your back just in time for the big show
6th inning and time for another drink. Each vendor had a towel under her chin
Two buddies who like different teams
Her towel had player's faces on it
The baseball diamond like a star map
Mr. Bucket hat!
Heading out for our long ride back
Great fun was had by all.
