7 May 2024 Tokyo: The Art Aquarium and Museum

We knew that the market closed at 2PM and we wanted to see something else while we were in the area.  Leslie found the Art and Aquarium Museum and we were intrigued.  We booked a 2:00 entry and only had a 10 minute walk from Tsukiji.  This place was unlike anything we had ever seen.  First off, who knew that there were so many goldfish breeds in the world?  Second there were so many different types of fishbowls.  From spherical shaped to open top cubes to giant soccer ball tanks.  Then to top it all off there was great mood music, constantly changing lighting and delightful scented rooms.

Sir Fork and Mr .Spoon

This was an opulent building with fancy stores and the museum all inside

Very decorative facade

Getting a bit dizzy looking at it

The information desk

This is style!

Floral decorations

Made from tiny flowers

Quite expensive!

Lapel pins

We are in the first hallway of the museum with Irises and lanterns

The second area consisted of columns of goldfish lining each side to the walkway

Like giant test tubes

Ever changing lights

Nest were barrel shaped tanks

Brainy goldfish

Beer drinkers

Four inches wide, 6 feet tall and 12 feet long

With the wisteria

The water flowed over the front of these tanks

That is not a molly, its a Polly

These tanks came in rows ,each one taller than the one in front of it

So pretty!

After that we entered an array of open topped cube shaped tanks

These rotund fish appeared to have spikes on their flanks

Almost spherical fish

The spikes are harder to dee from the side

Mottled

So beautiful and delicate

The male

The Female

A bit phallic

The celestial eye goldfish

Super frilly

Torpedo shaped

A masterful piece of construction

8 foot diameter soccer ball shaped aquarium

Spherical tanks where the fish was reflected in the back of the tank

Weird nose spots

They look like eyes

A built in photo spot

Bubbles!

We had to wait a long time for this spot and the folks that were were waiting on took the picture for us

These tanks were interconnected by water flowing out of the large in the center tank

Like a big chemistry set

A floral and Fish combo
