It was a short drive from Clonakilty to Rosscarbery. Our place was outside town and along the water close to the beach. Right in front of the house was a tidal estuary that alternated between a mud flat and a wide brackish lake. Since the sun was shining when we arrived, we took a walk on the cliff trail straight away. A fun walk and we got to talk to some folks who were born in Rosscarbary but moved to Bantry. Then I walked along the water looking at the birds and the ladies took the car. We met back in town and took the road on the other side of the water. Here we went to the pier where we talked to another family. The kids were in shorts and they were fishing while the mom had on a full length puffy coat. We were wearing less than she was. After a bit we headed into town and had dinner at the pub. We got back home and it was still light. The sunset was amazing!
On the walk to the beach we saw the pitch and putt course
Across the way
These trees have seen some windy days
We walked this trail
Fish and rocks
Living his best life
Sand castles
Rose Hips
Looking back from the top of the cliff trail
You can see where the water enters into town
Downtown Rosscarbery
This lighthouse is on the list for tomorrow
The tide is in
Trudging the trail
A Castle in the distance
Danger indeed
The cliffs and the lighthouse off in the distance
A chirping robin
Such a deep red
A very specific sign, man with balloon crossing ahead
When the tide is in
A very large estate
A steeple poking up
Across the water
Such a fine house and right on the water
The inlet and beach
Thsi house is next door to us and from the road there is no way of seeing how gigantic it is
Th steeple again! This is the smallest cathedral in all of Ireland
I stopped and chatted withjh this gentleman trying to get info on the birds
The Eurasian Curlew
The roost for all the Rooks
Green Teal
Mute Swans
Grey Heron
The waters were very calm
Blooms spilling out of their pots
Downtown Rosscarbery
A whiskey bomb
Something is fishy about this wine bottle
A crocheted man int he pub
The bartender was very tall
A somber bunch
Juniper berries!
A huge bottle of Power whishkey
Local men of note
The human "steam engine" was a great runner
Just a man on a jaunty cart
Sheep art
It is Tipsy O'Snokkered
The sun is setting
I walked back from the pub
As the sun was at the right angle so the birds were back lit
It made for great shadows
Ready to stab at a fish
Getting a leg up
A calm water shadow
Nice beak
Teh light was changing by the minute
A muddy stroll
Warning!
The last rays of the sun
Blam!
The shadows of the clouds on the clouds
Blam, blam!
And the reflection on the water too
SO much fun watching
The wading birds in the fading light
No need to squabble, there is enough for every bird
