Our train ride to Machu Picchu

After a interesting evening of trying to sleep, we got downstairs and had breakfast.  I say interesting because we were intimately involved in the local train schedule. We heard the whistle for the 9 train the 10 trained the 4 a.m. train you gets fuzzy after that. In addition we had a light fixture that was set to strobe. That was very interesting so interesting that I got a chair out in the middle of the night and unscrewed the lightbulb. Other than that are stay at the El Berque was lovely. We got onto the train and we were the last in line but it didn't matter because we had assigned seats. There are not enough words like spectacular, incredible, extraordinary, beautiful, breathtaking, exceptional  for me to use to describe the trip. We saw the hikers that were going on the Inca Trail. We saw several bridges and farms along the way. We saw a snow-capped mountain, sheer rock walls, boulder strewn river gorges, tunnels hacked from the living rock.
Pretty nice location for a train station

A bridge for the hikers to cross the river

Our new summer home perhaps

Cut right from the mountain with maybe 6 inches to spare on either side

Snow-capped grandeur
This lady leaned on people  bumped into them, about knocked  someone over and made the drink card move out of her way because she wanted to get her pictures!

Only one track and it twisted and it turned

 look who's coming our way

The climate changed from an arid mountainscape to a cloud forest that was much more lush with lots more green.

Some Inca ruins along the way

This shot summarizes it all mountains, river clouds, beauty
A great way to spend an hour and a half, this is an Optimum location. It has a waterfall Inca ruins and apparently a pretty nice house right next to the river
Erosive trails

Raw rock

Houses along the way

This is the view from the seats right in front of us. We were facing the other way, so very close to the best seats on the train.
