13 May 2025 Bologna: Some Mozart, Some Bach, Some More Mozart

Leslie found a great concert with a Canadian pianist and an Italian French Horn soloist.  I wonder how many solos are written for the French horn?  How many gigs does Emanuele Urso get to perform?  Angela Hewitt on the other hand must have many opportunities to perform as the piano is well represented in the classical catalogue.  Add to that she performed a Bach and a Mozart piece from memory without any sheet music in front of her and she conducted the ensemble from her bench. This concert was delightful and even though it started at 8:30 we were not sleepy at any point in the concert

Walking to the concert Neptune is showing off his physique in the fading light

This lady is certainly well hydrated

Golden hour lighting

When we leave, we will certainly miss the porticos

A fine modern venue

I guess it is obvious that we were early

Program, get your program!

The top level must be for daredevils only

Warming up

For the second piece they had to wheel out the grand piano

In the bathroom there was a chair and music stand

Decorations in the hall

Manzoni, not a Zamboni

At the start of the second half I snuck in some pictures

In come the oboes and the German style trumpet

The second violin was fun to watch

Grey hair or lavender hair?

Straight from Canada, Angela Hewitt

Just like that the concert is over

Wait there is an encore, another Bach piece

Angela Hewitt called out all the players for the applause

Great show

On the way home Neptune was posing
