This museum is one of a kind. Not only is there a collections of the most beautiful and exotic instruments, there is also original sheet music from the likes of Bach, Mozart and Rossini. The bulk of the collection came form Father Giovani Battista Martini (1706-1784). He was a famous teacher, composer and musical scholar whose students included Bach and Mozart. He attempted to put together a portrait and some original sheet music from all the major composers from the 15th century to the 18th century. The collection is housed in the spectacular Palazzo Sanginetti that boasts an impressive stairway and gorgeous frescos in every room. There is an attached musical library with volumes of music, musical theory and historical works. There are performance areas in the area as well. We were absolutely gob smacked at all the treasures we saw and how beautiful the rooms were.
