After the museum we wandered through the town and worked out way towards the sea. There is another gate that goes through the walls and has stairs that lead down to the water. We poked around our on the edge for a while and then got some lunch. The lunch was delightful at the Rivelin Bistro which was recommended by Darko. That was a good recommendation for sure. We headed back in to the market that we shopped at the day before but it was closed. So we made do with leftovers and pork chops for dinner.
This house sparrow looks like it was carved into the stone
This appears to be a walkway across the street
Upon closer inspection it was just two 2 by 12's tied together with a string
Tiny grapes hanging over the street just out of reach
Creepy Barbies in the window
Handicap ramps
More ramps off to the side
We have found the opening
A whole other world outside the walls
It is Miss Polly
The walls run for a continuous 1.5 miles the second longest set of walls in the world right behind the Great Wall of China
Brilliant blue
If the walls could talk
They would say "hang on"
It is a long way down
Looking up
Looking down
Kris and I were standing well back from the edge
Leslie was brave enough to stand by the edge
The bar was closed for the end of the season
Rugged
And steep
Looking back up to the rest of the party
And the cat
Back out we go
No one is allowed
Only cannon balls
Graffiti
We passed this open court yard that was locked up behind a gate
And here was the gate
An odd shrine
Corinthian column top
We happened upon a free concert
Just a shell for a guitar
Another museum
The guide here was showing on the map the area where the city was an island. The channel was later filled in during the 12th century and the areas on the mainland were called the New City
Our lunch spot
A little shade and a little sun
Two copper goblets of Gin!
Old Pilots Gin and Roby Matron Gin
My fish dish, Mussels, a langoustine, small clams, two bis slabs of Monkfish
Leslie got almost the same thing but with pasta. After lunch we headed back in to find a market but they were all closed on a Sunday
Revelin Bistro
The Rector's house was charging admission
So I took some pictures from the entryway
Serious knockers
The closest we got to getting food was the Gelato shop
We sat out in the courtyard and watched the cable cars
And the birds
And the other houses
Doves
The sun setting
And the walls were all lit up
Goodnight Dubrovnik
