Krka National Park has some superlatives going for it. It is the site of the second ever hydroelectric plant, it is the second national park in Croatia founded in 1895. It has the largest travertine falls in Europe at 48 meters tall and 800 meters wide. It is incredibly popular site to visit during the season with perhaps 10,000 people visiting on a single day. It was also popular on the day of our visit as we had to sit at the entrance gate for over an hour just to get in. Of course this created some problems for the timing of the trip. Our boat ride was scheduled for 2:30 but it was close to 1:15 before we started on the wooden board walk through the waterfalls. The tour guide convinced many of the folks to skip the boat ride and rejoin the bus at 3 pm instead. Since we love taking boat rides we kept a brisk pace through the waterfalls and were able to get in line for the boat. We were lucky that we were the last people allowed on the boat. They tired to stop Dave from boarding but since he was with us he was allowed on.
