Budva has an old town that juts into the water and is surrounded by an old wall. It is mainly intact and it was great fun wandering through the winding streets. There were three different churches, a citadel with a library and display of old ship models in it. There were shops but we did not buy anything and a cool art gallery that we walked into. There was a leather work shop and I asked if they had a cord that they could use to fix my Lisbon pendant. The original cord was a flimsy cotton one and it had already broken once. She said she could do it for free but I gave her 5 euros anyway. We stopped for a snack that turned out to be lunch.
Our balcony is in the center
Our building
This seemed to be a free library but there were only a couple of pairs of crocs in there
A semi submarine. It does not descend
Big bell but not for ringing
Our next watertoy
Looking back to the mountains
Red arrow marks out building
The walled old town from the water
Take a bite!
The water looks very clear
We have breached the walls
Gate and mailbox combo
Up the stone steps
And through the arch
To the small alley
Where we find another gate
A rare open space
A fun drawing found in the art gallery
It was chocked full of art
Two floors
The bees were hanging around this dripping faucet to get water
A funny t-shirt that explains a local saying
This is very old
A chimney with its own roof
But don't follow it too far
So many cats
The blue cat was so filled with cats that we did not enter
Sleepy ones
The side of the sailors house
Church of St John
We are in the heart of the old town
Nice greenery around the church
The sign says that this is a 1st century Church of St Sabbas the Sanctified
Very fine stonework for being 2000 years old
We are at the seaward side of the old town
I wonder if there used to be bells in these three arches
The citadel
The official flag of Montenegro
A fine pair of travelers
The citadel from the sea
The stripes in the stone are quite unique
I do not want to have to storm these walls
No photos allowed inside
Not a cubic grain of salt but an open square
Nice spot for a snack
Hells' wells
The citadel walls
Alexander Stark built this Clavicimbalum by hand
He was in period costume with these funky shoes and the piece of metal by his knee is connected by a wire and works like the pedals on a piano
A tunnel of greenery
On both sides
Out to the water
Ta da!
A three hour tour
Off they go and this boat really did not return for three hours
Perched on the top of a rock
Looking down from the top of the citiadel
So many mountains all around
Another swimming beach
