Here we are the its the 3rd leg of the adventure. We got on the plane easy enough because of the tiny Easter Island airport. I think I was asleep within an hour and slept for maybe four or five hours of the flight. We had fully reclining seats so it was somewhat easier. I woke up with only about an hour left in the flight. Leslie woke up soon after that and we were both amazed that they didn't wake the whole plane up. In fact they didn't wake the whole plan up until within 15 minutes of our landing. Needless to say it was a little chaotic. We had to climb down the stairs again and it was 2 a.m. local time. We got off the plane and were the first people through immigration. We got outside the door and expected to find our name on a sign. We we're disappointed not to find it. We gave our driver about 30 seconds to find us and then headed out to find a taxi. We didn't get far before he ran up and grabbed us. He was late because he had to go get us leis to put around our necks. The driver then took us to the hotel and we were checked in within 15 minutes of landing. I think we were probably asleep within another 15 minutes and slept very well. We got up had breakfast at the buffet and had a wonderful ride from Michael back to the airport. Michael was from Scotland but then worked and lived in England for a long time. Then he moved to Tahiti! He's retired policeman and looked to be about 35 years old at the most.
Looking rough and smelling strong. However the fine smell of the fresh lei helped alleviate that.
The view from our hotel balcony in Tahiti
Nice way to wake up
A living wall at the wall
Looking fresh after a shower and a couple hours of sleep. The lei on the other hand is a little wilted
Michael was a fine driver and made the seven minute drive seem short
The domestic terminal in Tahiti is not much bigger than the international terminal at Easter Island
Our propeller-driven puddle jumper
A beautiful paint job on the plane and a beautiful lovely wife right next to it
